Transgender Day of Remembrance

As part of my internship with the Duke University Women's Center, I collaborated with staff at the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity to design three cardboard silhouettes representing transgender women, femmes, and femmes-of-center of color for Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance held on November 20 that honors the lives lost to anti-transgender violence that year. In using silhouettes, I hoped to "shine a light" on these individuals' power, resilience, and beauty while also underscoring the injustice they face as one of the most marginalized yet overlooked groups within the LGBTQIA+ community.
